Role Description

COTEC is an outstation of Cranfield Defence and Security located on Salisbury Plain south of Devizes.  The site is leased from the MOD and all range operations are carried out under the authority of Defence Training Estates Salisbury Plain DTE (SP).

About the Role

The primary role is to assist the Trials Conducting Officers (TCOs) in the correct receipt, issue and storage of explosives and munition for use in explosives and ballistic trials.  The correct storage of explosives and munitions is a legal requirement under Explosives Regulations 2014.  Failure to do so could result not only in COTEC contravening HSE regulations but in a dangerous situation potentially leading to loss of life and damage to equipment. The post holder will be responsible for the general maintenance of the ammunition storage compound and will be expected to assist the Range Technicians in the preparation and conduct of explosive and ballistic trials.

About You

You will be educated to GCSE level in Maths and English, or the equivalent.  You will hold ISOH Working Safety or prepared to work towards obtaining it on appointment.  You will have experience in working within a proactive environment and able to make decisions with minimal supervision.  You will also have experience in storage and processing.  A good knowledge of health and safety is required for this role, particularly in manual handling.
