Treasury Manager
Role Description
The Finance PSU welcomes applications from qualified finance professionals who are looking for a varied and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic University finance environment. This role will suit someone who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with treasury, banking and financial control, and who wants to make a visible contribution to the effective management of the University’s financial resources.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in cash and liquidity management, banking, borrowing, investments, payment processes and financial reporting, working with colleagues across Finance and the wider University.
The post holder will be responsible for the University’s day-to-day treasury and banking activities, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, treasury reporting, borrowing administration, investments, foreign currency activity and associated financial controls.
The role also includes responsibility for key banking and payment arrangements, including BACS, online banking, merchant services, payment terminals and corporate and purchasing cards, alongside supervision of the Treasury function. The post holder will support month-end and year-end accounting, treasury-related audit requirements and the financial management and accounting of the University’s endowment funds.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance, the wider University, banks, payment providers and auditors, the post holder will provide advice and guidance, resolve issues and help ensure treasury and banking processes are accurate, secure, efficient and well controlled. The role will also contribute to continuous improvement across systems, procedures and financial controls.
About You
You will be a professionally qualified accountant with relevant experience in treasury, financial accounting, banking or a closely related finance role. You will bring a strong understanding of cash management, reconciliations, financial controls and month-end processes, together with the confidence to work with complex financial information and significant transactions.
You will be analytical, accurate and well organised, with strong communication and relationship-building skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and critical deadlines. You will be confident using financial systems and Microsoft Excel, applying professional judgement and resolving issues within established policies and delegated authorities.
Experience of Higher Education, treasury management, borrowing, investments, endowments, corporate cards, payment security or electronic banking systems would be advantageous. In return, the successful applicant will join a supportive and collaborative Finance team and take on a broad, high-impact role with real scope to influence and improve treasury and banking services.
